What are the course fees and payments to CILEx?

Our Welcome information will detail the fees for your chosen course.

Fees are made up of tuition fees payable to The Law Academy and fees for exams, professional membership and any exemptions payable to CILEx directly. Manuals are usually purchased by students for most courses too.

The CILEx membership fees depends on your previous work experience and qualifications and are payable to CILEx directly. Single subject Level 6 units may be exempt from membership payments although may have to pay an admin fee to CILEx.

Law Graduates will also have to pay an exemption fee to CILEx prior to becoming a member.

You can check the up to date CILEx membership fees on the CILEx website HERE

When are my tuition fees payable?

Once you are happy you have selected the right course for you, your place will be secured with a 20% non refundable deposit or a letter confirming sponsorship from your employer. All fees must be paid in accordance with the agreement in place for you. A personal payment schedule will be discussed with you before your first payment will be due.

July is our discount month - pay during July in full and receive a saving on your fees for starting your course in September.

Can I pay for my tuition fees by instalments?

Yes, we are happy to discuss individual instalment plans. We work hard to ensure we offer you a fair and manageable payment plan and our instalment plans are interest free!

Is there funding available for the courses?

As a private training company we receive no individual government funding. Our students generally therefore cannot access the government loans available.

You can contact CILEx to discuss any funding options which may be available.

Are your courses apprenticeships?

Most people studying the CILEx courses with us are not an apprentice in their company. Over the last 3 years, some students have secured a role within local firms as Legal Services Apprentices. This involved them attending The Law Academy to complete the relevant CILEx units that formed part of the Apprenticeship. The rest of the programme is delivered and coordinated by Damar Training in the apprentice's workplace.

However, since May 2017, some employers have to consider the Apprenticeship Levy which enables them to utilise Government funding for apprenticeships. This may include the Paralegal apprenticeship leading on to the Chartered Legal Executive Apprenticeship. Each of these include CILEx qualifications that we deliver.  All other elements of the Apprenticeship are  delivered and coordinated by Damar Training.

Therefore, if your employer is looking to utilise either of these Apprenticeships, get in touch.

Will The Law Academy Ltd find me employment?

We do not arrange placements for any students however we do have a good relationship with lots of local employers. Many of them advertise vacancies through us and several students have found employment within the first year of studying with us either through our vacancies website or through contact with other members of their class groups.

Can I apply for an NUS Extra card?

Yes, once your course begins or if you are a current student, you can apply following this link. Paper forms have to be approved by Helen, or if applied for online, cards will be delivered to the office and we will contact you once we have approved this as having been applied for by our students.
