ILEX
The Institute of Legal Executives was founded in 1892 and became a company limited by guarantee in 1963 with the support and co-operation of the Law Society. Currently ILEX has branches throughout England and Wales and many members overseas.
ILEX is the professional body representing over 24, 000 members in the legal profession and is a leading provider of legal education providing a cost effective route to obtaining law qualifications and a career in law which is open to all.
Legal Executives are Fellows of the Institute who have completed the ILEX Professional Higher Diploma in Law and Practice and the required period of a qualifying employment.
Legal Executive lawyers are able to act as Commissioners for Oaths. Fellows who train and qualify as Legal Executive Advocates can represent their clients in the County Court, Family Proceedings Court, Magistrates' Court.
Legal Executives are now eligible to apply for a range of judicial appointments including Deputy District Judge and District Judge (from 2010). They can now also become partners in law firms.

Law graduates are encouraged to contact us to discuss your options and method of study through the "graduate fast track diploma". This involves passing 2 level 6 practice units plus the level 6 client care skills course work unit. You would be able to do this within 1 academic year. There is a qualifying employment period to be completed that we will also advise you on.
