Steve graduated in Law in 1991 and worked with Lancashire Trading Standards before moving into criminal practice. In 2001, Steve decided to move into teaching and has taught ILEX courses at Warrington Collegiate as well as undergraduate courses at Lancaster university.
Steve specialises in criminal law, criminal procedure and evidence. He is the author of a text book entitled "Criminal Law and Practice" (2008) published by Sweet and Maxwell which is designed for ILEX students.
Steve also regularly contributes articles on criminal law, practice and evidence in the Justice of the Peace Journal.
Steve has continued to teach at the Law Academy delivering Criminal Law and Practice subjects at level 6 during 09-10. He also teaches Criminal Law and Evidence at Liverpool John Moores University. This year he will continue with Level 6 Criminal Law.
