Danny Hart, HR Manager Cammell Laird writes:

"Employment Law knowledge is often gained through the completion of a CIPD qualification and then updated as the years and changes happen at free seminars etc. As a HR professional I decided to sign up for the ILEX Level 6 Employment Law course to ensure my knowledge was not only up to date but accurate. The ILEX course has allowed me to do this as well as giving me the confidence to know that when I make a decision it is based on a legal statute with case law to support. This course is demanding but has been well delivered and the format of the programme has allowed me to attend one evening per week for two hours whilst studying in my own time. In terms of value it has been money well spent and far outweighs free seminars with a glass of wine! Absolutely invaluable for anyone in a HR role where they are dealing with employment relations issues regularly"

John Garrahan, Level 3 student writes:

"I was looking for a course that would help me gain more knowledge about the law and to enable me to develop new skills and to obtain further qualifications to enhance my career. I felt that this course of study was exactly what I was looking for. The course has enabled me to study part time while still working full time. It has been very beneficial to my day job and the theory part of the course has give me a better understanding of the relevant issues which has boosted my confidence and made me a better employee.

As a deaf person, I am grateful to The Law Academy and its employees for all their help and support. They have been understanding of my needs from day one and have gone out of their way to ensure that these needs have been met, they arranged for a sign language interpreter to assist me and they carried out deaf awareness training for their tutors. I cannot speak highly enough for the kindness and assistance the staff have showed to me and no doubt it has been of great assistance to my personal development."

Johnathan Ball, Level 6 student, Liverpool City Council writes:

"Studying for my Ilex exams through The Law Academy has made the experience of combining a legal qualification with full-time employment far less daunting. Having the support network of staff, tutors and fellow students throughout the academic year, and particularly leading up to the exams, has been an invaluable resource"

Ryan Wilson, Level 3 student, Hill Dickinson writes:

"I was working at a firm of solicitors not really knowing what direction my working life was going to take when my boss offered me the opportunity to begin studying at the Law Academy to complete the ILEX qualification. At first I was apprehensive about studying again 5 years after leaving school, but now I am 2 years into the course and have a clear direction for my career. The course is broken down into modules which makes it easier to digest and following completion of the 4 year course (hopefully!) I will have the option to take continue towards the LPC and become a solicitor!"

Danielle Gaston, Level 6 student, DWF LLP writes:

"This is now my third year of studying with the Law Academy, the college offers a wide range of courses, delivered by supportive and professional tutors. There is a great support network in place both with the practical side of studying but also with the all important exam tips and techniques. The college also has close ties with the local ILEX branch so its a good way of networking whilst also having fun at the same time. Most importantly though, the staff and tutors are on hand with advice and assistance and are always willing to go the extra mile to help students. For example the Level 6 courses I'm interested in next year are not on the current timetable, however the college are doing their best to arrange for a flexible learning route for me and are also trying to get a tutor from a local university to be on hand to offer support and guidance".

Dan Nicholas, Level 3 Student writes:

"After just completing my second year of Level 3, I can only commend the Law Academy for the quality of its teaching and approach. I have found the tutors to be highly knowledgeable in their field, well organised, approachable and supportive. The fact that the majority of the tutors are also in practice themselves; makes them fully appreciative of the demands of balancing a full time job and part time study. The support from all the directors, behind the scenes, who are quick to deal with queries and champion the student's cause, is also invaluable. The variety of subjects available, only serves to remind what an interesting and multi-disciplinary subject law is. I would highly recommend the Law Academy and its courses, and as someone who has taken on the study of ILEX, to hopefully help facilitate a future change of career, it is an excellent introduction to the world of the law. "

Anon. Level 6 student:

"I have now been studying the Ilex course through the Law Academy for 4 years. I began the course as my employers encourage independent study but knew that I would struggle to motivate myself without further support, and as such I enrolled with the Law Academy. It has been invaluable to have the guidance and support of the Law Academy because as well as providing regular classes the tutors and college staff are always available to provide further guidance. Not all areas of the law are relevant to my own employment although having a broader understanding of all aspects of the law is a valuable asset for future development as it can lead to opportunities that may have been unavailable to me in the past. By studying through a recognised centre, contacts can be made and new opportunities discovered which may not have been available previously."

Karl Hughes, Level 3 student, Weightmans writes:

"I would like to take this opportunity in thanking the Law Academy and it's staff, I am currently in my first year of myILEX level 3 courseand thought that doing the the course was going to be a daunting task and I was really apprehensive to start with, but just after few sessions into my course I felt more at ease in doing the course with the tutition provided by the staff who are very experienced and very helpful in the training that they provide for you. This has made me feel more determined to progress into my second year more confidently and has dismissed any concerns or doubts that I originally had before starting at the Law Academy back in September 2009."

Gillian Hoey, Level 6 student writes:

"I have studied with The Law Academy for the last 2 years, and have found it a positive and rewarding experience having previously studied by distance learning with ILEX. I am currently studying at level 6. The benefit of studying with The Law Academy is having a tutor that is able to give immediate and constructive feedback, and also have the opportunity of group discussions with your fellow students, something you're not able to experience with distance learning, so you never feel isolated."
