CGQ Graduate Qualification
If you have a Law Degree, you can apply for the CGQ Graduate Qualification
This entails starting at the Advanced stage and completing the following elements:
- 3 mandatory units for Working in Civil Litigation, Working in Criminal Practice & Introduction to Property, Private Client and Professional Skills
- 1 Elective Advanced unit in your chosen specialist area
- 2 ethics and professional responsibility e-learning units
- Professional experience portfolio (optional)
This leads to the title of Trainee CILEX Lawyer (CILEX Advanced Paralegal) and is likely to take 18 – 24 months to complete.
The next stage you could choose is to qualify as a CILEX Lawyer.
This involves completing the Professional stage comprising of:
- Professional Skills work based project
- 1 elective unit in your specialist area
- Assessments
- Professional Experience portfolio
- Completion of an Advocacy course is also a requirement to achieve CILEX Lawyer status in the litigation pathways of Dispute Resolution/Civil Litigation; Family Litigation and Criminal Litigation.
This stage is likely to take 12 months.
